Kiteboarding 4 Cancer is North America’s largest amateur kiteboarding event, raising money through athlete fundraising and registration for Athletes for Cancer’s Survivorship Program. KB4C is an Athletes for Cancer event as part of the Tenacity Games series of action sport fundraising events for A4C camps and partner programs.
KB4C takes place in beautiful Hood River, Oregon, comprising of a 6-hour Endurance kiteboarding race — The Kite Derby — that challenges the physical strength, determination, and tenacity of each athlete involved.
The theme of the event is to take on a unique challenge to the point of exhaustion that embodies what someone battling cancer faces every day. Competitors in past Kiteboard 4 Cancer events have claimed the Kite Derby to be equivalent to “running a marathon”. Endurance training is recommended if you plan to kiteboard the entire 6 hours.
Kiteboarders compete as individuals and in teams for the bragging rights and prizes of being the Kiteboarding 4 Cancer champion. Check out photos and info here!
The 2012 Kiteboarding 4 Cancer is scheduled for July 13-15, 2012.
